HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Maison Fantomus was born from uncertainty

and a quiet belief that scent is far more than a single spritz on the wrist before stepping into the day. It is a space where perfumery becomes a language, and fragrance — a living, breathing narrative.

Although the perfume industry is wrapped in legends and its history is colorful and full of mystery, an unknown world often remains hidden behind glass bottles. The growing interest in fragrances each year reflects our increasing desire to seek aesthetics, yet few pause to ask: what truly settles on our shelves? What creative idea guided the author striving to convey olfactory art in a single spray? Each drop holds the power to become an emotional carousel, transporting us into memories or states yet to be experienced.

Perfume education and workshops are an integral part of Maison Fantomus. We aim for every bottle of fragrance in your hands to gain new depth and meaning, moving beyond the simple, spontaneous “mmm, that smells nice.”

Over time, you begin to perceive more: eras in aldehydes, emotions in resins, cultural shifts in smoke and spices. You start to understand scents the way you understand people — through layers, time, and the silence between the lines. Gradually, you transform from a curious visitor into someone capable of recognizing notes, nuances, and their subtle interplay.

FOUNDER'S STORY

Kvapas – tai daugiau nei įvaizdžio detalė. Tai tyli, bet paveiki kalba.

My relationship with perfume began innocently, perhaps even a bit mischievously. As a child, I would secretly take my mother’s perfume bottles and pour their contents into one, trying to create something “unique.” Now I understand that this is strictly not advisable, though some might argue it was my own version of “layering.”

However, when I discovered niche perfumery in my teenage years, the constant search for “the one” scent became something more. In 2023, a course in natural niche perfumery with fragrance creator LaimÄ— KiškÅ«nÄ— (Unda Prisca) inspired me to transform a superficial understanding of perfume into a deeper experience. I committed to seeing fragrance not just as a momentary pleasure, but as an art form — the result of complex chemical processes and dedicated, patient work.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Thus began my journey beyond the role of a consumer. Over time, it became clear that simply sensing or choosing was no longer enough. I wanted to understand why scents have such a powerful effect — why they become quiet yet faithful companions in our lives. Why can a single breath take us back to childhood, remind us of home, or evoke the scent of our mother or father? And why do some fragrances become iconic, while others remain deeply personal discoveries?

We live in a world where scents are everywhere, yet only a few truly know how to read them. And let’s admit it — it probably warms each of our hearts when someone shyly asks: “Tell me… what are you wearing?”

IDEA

Studying natural niche perfumery and engaging with the community of perfumers opened new horizons:

sensitivity to materials, respect for the process, and a sense of community that ultimately drew me into the world of olfaction — not out of obligation, but from an inner need.

From this journey, the idea of Maison Fantomus gradually emerged — a desire to create a space that brings together perfumers from both Lithuania and abroad. A place where quiet friendships form, experiences are shared, and inspiration is born.
